Tip #86: Don't move the toilet or the sink

Moving plumbing fixtures is costly. Not only must the toilet and/or sink be removed for relocation or replacement, the pipes and connections must also be moved. In most cases this will involve tearing holes in walls, floors or ceilings to gain access to the pipes in order to re-route them to the new location. The damage done to access pipes must also be repaired. This is the reason plumbing changes are so expensive. A design that does not require moving a toilet or a sink will save a large amount of money in your remodeling project. However, if you must move the toilet and/or the sink, take advantage of this opportunity to make any necessary or desirable upgrades to pipes and fixtures. These upgrades will save money in the long run.
