An experienced do-it-yourselfer who just needs a little instruction and advice can save big by hiring a contractor to consult with you and mentor you through the parts of the job that seem more challenging to you. Just contact some reliable contractors in your area and ask if they are willing to work with you on a consulting basis. If they are, they will quote you an hourly rate. This allows you to get expert advice and instruction while still having the fun of doing the remodeling project yourself.
