Tip #254: Install ceiling fans in rooms used frequently

One investment well worth its cost is to install ceiling fans in rooms that are used frequently. This is especially true for rooms with pitched ceiling, tray ceilings, or high ceilings. Using a ceiling fan to circulate the air in a room will keep it cooler or warmer (according to season) by creating more movement of air throughout the room. As we all know, hot air rises and cold air settles. A ceiling fan will draw the cool air up from the floor and the warm air down from the ceiling, keeping the entire room more comfortably at an even and consistent temperature. This will significantly reduce your heating and cooling costs. It might allow you to keep your thermostat set higher or lower for the entire house while making frequently used rooms more comfortable.
