Instead of using wood to build a fence for privacy or for a windbreak, you might want to consider using vinyl fencing instead. The vinyl fencing will cost a little more when you purchase and install it, but you will recover than cost in saved maintenance and replacement cost. The vinyl fencing will last much longer than the wood and it requires no maintenance. Vinyl fencing styles look like natural wood or like aged cedar. Instead of a wrought iron fence, you can install a maintenance-free fiberglass fence for a much lower cost. You could also save on maintenance because the fiberglass will not require painting and will not be subject to rust.
