 You can save on your addition or remodel if a roof is required by using factory-built roof trusses. Site-built rafter systems are, as the name implies, built on site. The lumber cost will be more than the cost of a factory-built truss. The labor cost will be much less to install complete trusses than to build a rafter system. If time is a factor in your addition or remodel schedule, using trusses will also save time - maybe as much as two or three days.
