Tip #213: Buy young/small plants instead of large, mature ones

If your project includes landscaping, you can save a bundle by purchasing young or small plants instead of large, mature ones. It might be nice to plant large trees and other plants and shrubs to achieve the final effect immediately. But this approach to landscaping can be very expensive. Younger and smaller trees and plants will cost less to buy and less to plant. If you are in a hurry to have taller trees and fuller shrubs, buy young faster-growing varieties. Remember to plan for growth and allow enough space between your plantings.
