Tip #183: Use Marble or Granite Tiles Instead of Solid Stone for the Countertop

You can save money on kitchen and bathroom remodels by using marble or granite tiles rather than a solid piece of stone for kitchen or bathroom countertops. The use of tiles still provides a real marble or granite surface, but it is less expensive because the entire piece of marble does not need to be cut to a precise size and/or shape. It is also easier and, therefore, less expensive to ship. There will be a higher cost for installation, but in most cases this is offset by a much lower cost for the material. So if you really want marble or granite countertops, but want to save money, marble or granite tiles might be the answer.
